Aux Sable Grove Cemetery
The Will County Ghost Hunters Society has been investigating Aux Sable Grove Cemetery for the past four years. On July 19, 2008 the WCGHS held an open investigation at the location.
Aux Sable Grove Cemetery has it’s share of ghost stories associated with it. The most common phenomena reported here is the report of a single shadow person. In general, most people do not feel threatened by it. Usually it is seen off in the distance darting between headstones and trees. Many describe it as being curious. Many people have also heard voices in the cemetery while visiting. Most of the time the voices can not be understood. However, on come occasions they seem to be calling out the visitors names. While visiting here, extreme cold spots are not uncommon. History of location:

We arrived that the cemetery at 9:45PM. It had rained heavily earlier in the day and the ground was saturated with water. The humidity was also pretty high. A fog was seen in the roadways and in the nearby farm fields when we were approaching the cemetery entrance. It was quickly evident that there was a high volume of bugs in the air as well. These factors made it clear that we were not going to be able to consider photographs into evidence unless they were in the form of apparitions.
Review of Data
Collectively the WCGHS recorded a total of 1 hours, 58 minutes, and 56 seconds of audio. There were several EVPs that were being considered into evidence. Several were dismissed or determined to be Class C EVPs. However, there were 2 Class A EVPs that were recorded at a gravesite we frequently visit. We did both our regular EVP session and an EVP session with our Ghost Box. Both of the EVPs were recorded during the session with the Ghost Box.
The first one Kathy says, ”If there’s someone here, please say your name.” A male voice responds, “Andrew.
The second one Dan says, ”If you want us to leave say leave.” A male voice replies immediately saying, “Leave.”
We believe the voice is the same voice on both EVPs. Furthermore, it was recorded at a gravesite of a young man named Andrew.
The WCGHS did not record any video during the course of this investigation.
Collectively the WCGHS took a total of 444 photos. There were several photos that had orbs in them. Due to the moisture in the air and the large amount of bugs in the cemetery, these were all determined to be either dust or bugs. There were no photos that were determined to be paranormal in nature.
During the course of the investigation three different members reported seeing a shadow person darting in between the trees and headstones. They did not say anything to any other members. The sightings were not discussed in order not to influence other members on the investgation. The reports were discussed later and all of the sightings were in the same area and the shadow person was described in the same way.
The temperature fluctuated in the cemetery between 69 degrees Fahrenheit and 73 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the cemetery. These fall in the line of normal fluctuations and not deemed paranormal.
During the course of our investigation the readings fluctuated between .00 to .03 milligauss. These are very small fluctuations and are considered to be in the line of normal, and not considered to be paranormal in nature.
Aux Sable Grove Cemetery has been an active location for paranormal activity for some time now. During this investigation we were able to gather evidence in the form of 2 Class A EVPs supporting the paranormal activity that has been reported there by many people. There does not seem to be any decrease in the occurrences of paranormal activity and it will most likely continue for many years to come. The WCGHS plans on returning to the location some time in the future for further investigations.
