Walking with ghosts

On Nov. 25, officials in Plainfield are hosting a Spooktacular celebration to welcome residents back to Lockport Street, which has been under construction for seven months. When the business owners happily open their doors to those who come down for the festivities, they might be opening their doors to someone else too, ghosts. As part of the Spooktacular and Rock the Block events, Will County Ghost Hunters head investigator Dan Jungles will lead a ghost walk at the locations that boast the best ghost activity.

One of the stops is Baci Restaurant, a location the Will County Ghost Hunters have investigated. The did record an electronic voice phenomenon at the site, which you can hear by clicking here.
Even the business owners have their own spooky stories to tell.
Mary Ann Waldorf, owner of Gourmet Junction, has so many otherworldly encounters that she and her employees started keeping a journal. From faces that show up in photos to things flying off the shelf, Waldorf is full of stories that can't be explained.
Other highlights of the tour will include the Plainfield Library and Moe Joes, which is rumored to have boasted a caged monkey in the 1940s.
The ghost tour was the brainchild of Susan Erickson, executive director of Main Street Plainfield. And she has had her own spooky experience in the new Main Street Plainfield office.
"I was talking on the phone...and I had no heat or air on," she said. "The heat came on.
"They always make fun of me because I'm always warm and never cold."
There is no charge for the ghost walk and no reservations are needed. Simply show up in front of Baci at 6 p.m. Nov. 25.
